    Default gillette is easier

First I bought a non presharpened razor, them I read the wiki, then I bought a Stone, then I realize I should do the lapping, then I realize my strop simply do not touch the blade but only on the sides, then I realize my straight razor is not exactly straight so I will never achieve a bevel, then I bought another razor that Im stil waiting for, because I live in Brazil and all this stuf I need to buy bye internet and takes weeks to arrive. Two months went away and I couldnt perform my first straight razor shave yet. I wil not give up but now I can understand why do the humanity have choosen the Gilette !
Some words of hope Will be good.

    Hi Dario,

The learning curve is steep. It is more of a hobby at first. It transitions a little later, with experience, into a very nice indulgent way to shave. Once you have a razor, strop, and stone and the knowledge in how to use and take care of all of them, it becomes a hobby, indulgence, practical grooming practice, and with this site, a nice place for friendship and commraderie.

Don't try and force your enjoyment . . . think of it more as a journey in itself.

A few really good things in life can not be rushed, purchased, or taken away from you. Knowing how to shave with a straight razor is one of those things.

They say Patience is a virtue. It may not seem like it at the moment but it's worth the wait.

Yeah, the beginning of things is always hard. It's too bad your first razor was not shave ready...and I really hope your second one is. If it is, and if you can take the first few shaves possibly not being very good, then it will definitely pay off. They get very, very good...and WAY more fun than Gillette!

Don't be embarrassed! I just dropped some serious coin on a Filarmonica myself. I haven't gotten it yet but I don't regret the cost! Maybe because I am an acquisition junkie, perhaps?
