SMALL CHIP
A sad day... I ended up realizing that I put a very small chip on the very end of the edge of my blade near the toe. I went to rinse my razor and I looked in the mirror for a SPLIT second and ting!!! I bumped the bottom of the faucet right where the water comes out. This chip is incredibly small but I am suspect that it is the source of the worst razor burn I have ever felt.
Is there anything that I can do or is this razor going in its coffin until the next honing? The chip/dent/ding is on the very extreme end of the edge. Any help will be appreciated, Thank you!

yeah, it needs to be honed

Agreed, it'll need honing for sure. I dodged a bullet the other day - did the exact same thing as you, but fortunately it was the spine that hit the tap, not the edge. I said a thankful prayer to the razor gods that night for sure!

Bad News... Thanks guys. It looks like the coffin it goes!

Ah, welcome to the not-so-exclusive club of 'I dinged my razor on the Faucet!'

I had the same thing happen to an expensive new razor and sent it to the ClassicShaving.com razor repair service. It cost me $30 and I should be getting it back any day now. It may be worth the try.

You are certainly not the first person to do this!
My rule when I shave is never to take my eyes off the razor, esp. when rinsing or changing hands...

I would bet almost everyone does this at least once. I also think most people learn from it and don't repeat ;)
I definitely did it once when starting off, and I haven't done it since. I rinse much lower and I'm much more careful around the faucet.

I think I will never take my eyes off the razor when it is open again. Seems like such a common mistake! I think I have learned some respect for how delicate the edge of a razor is. I guess I am too used to throwing steak knives in the sink after a meal...

Oooouch!!! Not a good way to start the day. As a general rule I NEVER EVER take my eyes off the blade once I open it and put it in my hand, even then I have come close to doing the same thing. Sorry for your loss.
