Hello, I'm also new here
Hello!
Allow me to introduce myself: I'm Johan from a small town near Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Almost a year ago I bought my first straight razor, trying to get rid of the rash on my face I got from shaving with the modern razors. It worked, I get a lot less bumps, but the whole thing grew out into a hobby. Now I have 10 razors, even a set for every single day in the week, and a lot of soaps (Tabac, De Vergulde Hand, Mama Bears), Creams (Also Tabac, De Vergulde Hand, Bartex and a German brand with herbs and minerals), different shavingbrushes and a whole collection of After Shaves (Again Tabac, Old Spice (Not in stores in Holland for years)). Due to a nasty scar on my chin, I have to admit that I use a double-edged safety razor for that spot.
I hope to find good tips for using and repairing my collection.

In or a penny, in for a pound! I rounded up a nice collection of straight shaving paraphernalia and it has become a small hobby.
Tell the ladies a better story behind that scar, such as you got it sparing with an MMA fighter.

About the scar: No big story here, but a stupid accident. It happened on the first (and last) 'iceday' for years here in Holland. Like every true Dutchman I wanted to go iceskating in the polder, but I saw that some plumbing in the garden was broken due to the frost. When I was on the way back to the house to close the shut-off valve, I fell flat on my face, because there was a lot of ice and water. So no iceskating for me that day, I had to wait for 3,5 hrs at the first aid at the hospital for stitching up. (There were about 100,000 people on the ice in the polder, a lot of accidents happened there, the queue of people in need for a doctor started outside the hospital. 180!! people were before me, usually there are only about 4 people waiting at the first aid). The doctor stitched me up, but did a poor job and the scar ended up thick and ugly.
Anyway, in an earlier post I wrote that I used a DE for the scar and the difficult spots, after posting it, I tried not to use the DE anymore, and it worked.
