I think it's a beautiful razor as it stands. As for the shaving, it took me about a month to start getting consistent confortable shaves. I think I've only had one bad shave in the last six months since then.

    Welcome!

Just like to echo a few of the comments already made. That really is a beautiful piece. I'm excited to see the razors you make. As has been suggested already, you may want to try to sell them in the classifieds here.

I've been SR shaving for about 2-3weeks and I'm still trying to figure it out, so don't get discouraged.

Thanks for the welcome everybody. I really enjoy the fact that straight razor shaving requires skill. Already I'm getting a better and quicker shave than before with a cartridge razor. I know it's just going to get better, too!

The handle on that razor looks pretty good, but it has problems. First, it's not particularly nice ironwood. Also, I cracked one of the scales (repaired with CA). And lastly, I hate pinned construction and bladeplay. The pivot on this razor is really crappy. It's just an austenitic stainless steel pin. This probably isn't an issue with a razor, but it still bugs me. With a properly made pivot/bearing system, I can adjust tension to eliminate bladeplay, and I can replace the scales on a whim. I tend to get bored with a single handle, so I like to switch without destroying the previous handle.

    Phillip
