I am noticing one of my razor is tarnishing. I had a mirror finish originally, but it's becoming duller and darker.
Do you guys polish your straights periodically to keep them shiny or do you just let them dull and tarnish?
I would like to maintain this blade like new. A lot of common polishes will leave scratches and I want to avoid that.
Anyone have a suggestion for a polish that will keep the mirror finish on my straight?
Also, will I be in danger of dulling the blade if I polish?

If it was mirror finish it shouldn't be darkening on you. Make sure it is dry before putting it away and use some protectant on it like sterol or some other type of oil.
You can polish it as long as you stay away from the edge. Try the usual polishes-Maas, Simichrome,cape Cod Polishing Cloths.
Flitz is very effective.Some of the polishing compounds (usually liquids) for chrome rims, might work.
There are 3 polishes I know of. Maas, Flitz, and Mothers Aluminum Mag polish. Flitz is carried at Ace Hardware, Mothers is carried at walmart, and I haven't been able to find Maas. Must be a regional thing. If your razor has any gold wash these will eliminate it completely. Try rinsing your razor off with hot water and dry it off. Leave it open long enough to dry thoroughly and put a thin coat of oil on the blade, if you live in a humid area. You can use sewing machine oil or baby oil, they work just fine. After the blade is dry and oiled, if you want, close it up until next time.

+1 on the polishes and drying and protecting the blade after use. As for finding MAAS, I have found it in Ace Hardware in central MO. and Knoxville TN. You'll have to look for it. I can tell you it will make a blade shine. If you use polish stay away from the edge.
Just remember that metal polish will strip off any gold plating, so be careful if you want to preseve that. (I personally don't worry about it and just polish away...the gold wears away slowly anyway)

I'm not sure I would be using mag polish. That stuff has other chemicals in it you don't need to protect the wheels and clean brake dust off.
