    Default Honed

Hello all, new to the straight razor scene. Im from N.J. married two beautiful girls. Looks like to be the place to be for starting something new and hopefully very gratifying

When ordering a new razor, does honed necessarily mean it is "sharpened"....reason being when i order my new razor i want it to be pre- sharpened

I consider them both one in the same. I prefer not to use the term "shave-ready" as that assumes, to me, that the razor has also been stropped recently, instead of shipped.

well, if it is properly honed then you could say it has been sharpened. however it probably ought to also be stropped if it is to be shave ready

    [Edit]Great minds answer alike

You should inquire of the party you are receiving your new razor from. Although I have found some online vendors will claim their razors are shave ready, when in fact, they have only been machine sharpened. Other vendors will strop the razor and include instructions with the razor on what to do when you receive it. Who, if I may be so bold, did you order from?

If you order a razor from Straight Razor Designs, Vintage Blades, or Classic Shaving it will come honed by SRP founder Lynn Abrams. IME that is as good as it gets. SRD offers the first and second honing free if I am not mistaken,.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
