Did i pull the trigger too soon on this one

I just purchased this razor5/8 Imperial Razor - Straight Razor Place Classifieds

It was kind of an impulse buy because i really am partial to wooden scales. The main thing ive been looking for is a rounded razor, that is smaller than 6/8 (6/8 is a little to clunky for me). Im not very knowledgeable with all the names of the razors and whatnot. Normally i will post it on here to ask opinions from everyone, but i didnt want to miss out on something that i may like.

Since im still a little new to the measurements i was curious. Is 5/8 really that much of a difference than 6/8? Sorry if that sounds silly, but the sizing has always confused me a bit. The picture is a bit hard to make out, so i just wanted some insight on the quality of this blade.

Don't panic. In my opinion there's enough of a difference between 5/8's & 6/8's to make a difference.
Imperial made a line of Improved Eagle razors. That's my experience with them, though mine needs a bit of work. These are one of those that a few makers were doing, but AFAIK Imperial's version was very good.

The difference between a 6/8 and a 5/8 are is immediatelly noticed when you try to shave in tight places (like your mustache are) I find that the 5/8 is a much more "friendly" blade. I own two razors in each of those sizes. A Boker 5/8 Edelweisse and a DOVO special 6/8. Wait till you move to a 7/8!

Decent razor, decent price. I have a 7/8 (15/16), 5/8, and a 1/2 size straights in my rotation. They are also spike points and round points. If your technique is solid, you can get a great shave with any of them and it will not be much of an effort. I like the spike point since they can do some nice touch up work in tight spaces.

For those who may get a little cut with the spike point going WTG over the cheeks, just puff your check out a little to get the spike point off the skin during this movement.

They all are great. My biggest preference is how sharp can I get them, the effort to maintain them, and how well they shave.

I have a (and in some cases others...): 4/8s (1); 9/16s (2); 5/8s (lots); 11/16s (1); 6/8s (lots); 13/16 (1); and a 8/8 (1)

And I would say the dividing line is 11/16s. With the 11/16s I had to check with a ruler. Anything under looks small and feels small, anything over looks bigger and feels bigger. The way I personally feel is the the bigger ones are more of and experience, the smaller ones are better daily shavers. (hence my sig lol)
