Any updates to this thread now its 2013? I am using a straight (shavette with std DE blade length blade) principally to define fine details. A shorter blade would be most useful.

Maybe try looking for a De Pew's straight razor. They pop up here and there on eBay. One just sold a few hours ago. I've never used one but they look like a good detailing blade.
Here's a picture of a De Pew's.

Thanks. How long are their cutting edges or do they come in a range?
My suggestion, too. Have a three-pin with emblematic - love it around the more complicated real estate of mustache, neck and ears.

I'm not sure but from what I've read, their edge is about 1.5 inches long.
Check out this item on eBay. Search this # 111206725992 It's a Joseph Rodgers similar to the DePews
Thanks wyo'. That's kind of expensive for me as a first razor though. Saved De Pew's as a search though.
