Hello everybody!
My name is Arild, and I live in a small town in Norway. I am 41 years old, and have always been interested in a good way of living. I enjoy good books, the wildlife, make good food, Cuban cigars, wine, especially Champagne from small producers and lately I have discovered the fantastic world of wet shaving.
I started a while ago with a DE razor, Merkur 38 C with Feather blades and Fitjar soaps made by a woman named Jorunn from my own country. Her shaving soaps/creams and aftershave products are world class if you ask me. I much prefer her shaving soaps over for instance Tabac, and I don`t say Tabac is a bad soap, I think it is very good. I also got a couple of Simpson shaving brushes, the Tulip 3 and Emperor 2 in Super Badger. After shaving I am using Fitjarsoaps Neroli aftershave cream, heavenly scent and gives your skin an ultrasmooth feeling.
Well, I liked this kind of shaving so much that I wanted to go all the way, and now I have bought a couple of Dovo Straight Razors. Today I ordered a 4000/8000 Norton stone from Classicshaving.com, and look forward to learn the honing and stropping business myself. I have been what do you say, "lurking" a while and read a lot about shaving with a straight razor, and my first few tries have been very fun and actually quite good. I am still alive, and my Bloc du Alun has been enough to stop the blood from the small cuts I have gotten. I am looking forward to learn more, maybe contributing a little bit after a while and really experience the fantastic world of shaving with a straight razor. Nothing like getting a BBS with a knife in your hand!
Thank you for having me at this excellent forum, and all the fantastic information available here.
Best regards
Arild
