Weather it saves you money in the long run is kind of incidental. One you get good at straight saving you will actually look forward to shaving instead of dreading the chore.
It is like you said, life's little pleasures. Women have their manicures and pedicures to make them feel pretty and feminine, so why shouldn't men have a comfortable masculine shave. I find the pretreatment and after treatment to be a little luxury of my own.
BTW, I use and after shave soothing lotion, a post shave balm, and aftershave. All the rubbing in and massaging my face really makes me feel good. Add that to fewer nicks and less shaving irritation and shaving really doesn't have a down side any more.
I don't really know what I'll use. This is an interesting experience. I'm 19 so I've been shaving for a little while at least, and yet, I really have no clue what I'm doing. All I've ever used was some gellete foam stuff. And before that I didn't use anything.Quote:

I've been shaving for more than 35 years and never enjoyed shaving 'till I became proficient with a straight. The aftershave lotion and after shave balm I use is from Nivea. The aftershave splash I use is one that I started using in college.
