need help with scales, on the cheap

haveing purchased a few razors off of ebay recently, and the best one to shave with, is also the one that is in need of new scales. one side is completely off at the upper pin. only one small problem, and that is on the financial side, as in i am on a very tight budget currently, as is everyone these days. it is a full wedge in as much as i can tell. and am wondering if anyone has any advice for a newbie on where to get scales replaced rather inexpensively, and quickly. i truely like this razor, as it is the best shaver, my others need a honeing, and am an inpatient sort, hate to have nothing to work with. advice please, am really wanting to shave with a st8, dont want to go back to my single blade.:gth

If you're not looking for anything too fancy and you're willing to pick up shipping I'd be willing to put a set of scales on it.

freeman, you are a lifesaver, fancy is not an issue to what i would cosider my workhorse razor. it just needs scales, that is all im concerned with, i have actually fallen for this razor, dont know why, but it shaves great, atleast as i am concerned, and all i did was strop it, so if you will send me an address, i will work on the shipping end and get her to you.

Gentlemen, I'm honored and humbled by all of this praise. All I did was clean the fellow's razor up a little and put a set of scales on it. Something I would have been doing in my spare time anyway. I'm thankful to the OP for the opportunity to get to work with his razor. Having never seen one in person before, I learned quite a bit about big wedges. Thanks for letting me clean her up for you.

I felt the need to comment, not only on the beauty of those scales you put on Freeman, but am also rather curious about the history of the Blade. You see, i grew up in Philadelphia, roughly 30 minutes away from Allentown PA, and was unaware of many straight razor manufacturers that were in the area. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the Cutlery Works in Allentown, as i'm really curious now.

jaxx, i grew up in souderton, just on the other side of lansdale, and untill i saw that blade on ebay, i had never heard of them either, that is why i jumped on the sale. have been trying to look it up, but havent found much out, and i am very very very pleased with the way it turned out. i cant wait for the return post on the razor, just so i can hold it let alone shave with it. i do know that if i need another do, freeman will be getting a shout, and i will gladly pay for the work, it would be money well spent, and equally deserved.

I put your razor in the mail this morning so it should be back in your hands in a few days.
