My shave experience after honing Wapi (my first finished honing)
First, I'd like to thank you all for insightful help & advice I received some time ago from members of this forum while I was doing my first honing project (stainless Dovo which I suspended while I get better at honing).
At last, I finished honing one of Wapis that I've been recently practicing on!
I've grown a two week old beard especially to test this Wapi
The blade had a small chip in the edge and additionally it turned out while honing that the blade was a little warped. The first obstacle was solved with some patience on 1K Naniwa (great hone!), the second one was put against my newbie "rolling X" attempt with marker tests thrown in between. After Naniwa 1K (at which I did bevel setting), I did a Pyramid on Norton 4K/8K. Then, to smoothen it further, I did about 50 strokes on yellow Coticule with water, and after that I stropped it for some time on the leather side of the Dovo strop. After that treatment the blade was able to cut great amount of my arm hair in mid-air with very little effort and almost passed HHT.
My honing made the edge feeling sharp and soft/little sticky (to the skin) at the same time.
Strange but nice feeling on the face.
I've to admit the shave with this Wapi was fantastic!
What is amazing, after only a few really effortless strokes most area of my cheeks and neck was already clean and ready to make a way 2nd and 3rd pass! No redness, no nicks.. Ultra smooth feeling after the shave. My shaving technique is getting better and better so this was probably a part of the success but the quality of shave I received from this Wapi was about on the same level as shaving with my LeGrelot 1/4 (sharpened by honemeister) if not better!

Thanked: 199Awesome
It's reasons like yours that I bought 2 more Wapi's after I tried my first.
And I will probably at some point pick up 4 more so I can have a 7-day Polish set
I really love those things hehe
