I didn't know where to post this (maybe it belongs in the Razors section) so I leave it to the discretion of the mods to move it if they deem it appropriate...
I have a Wald Es-Ese 6/8 round point that is my second razor. I have had it since March and have been storing my razors in a pipe rack, tang side down, in the bathroom (which currently has no working shower, so no typical bathroom humidity. I had to take a hiatus from straight shaving due to a significant bout of sciatica which left me unable to stand for any extended period of time without support.
I have been feeling better so I have returned to my straights and when I went to wipe the oil off the razor this morning I found that it "developed" a crack (about a an eighth to a quarter of an inch) perpendicular to the edge not quite an inch from the toe of the blade. :( Needless to say I am very bummed about it, but I wanted to ask if anyone can explain how this might have happened. Could it be the manner in which I have been storing the razors?
All I can say is "Arghhh!!"
Thanks in advance,
Nathan
