Best way to store a razor between shaves?

I love woodworking, and my new hobby of straight razor shaving has given me an excuse to upgrade my horribly plain bathroom mirror to a nice medicine cabinet / mirror combo with built-in storage for my razor, brush, etc..

I'll custom build it to do what I want to do, but first I need to figure out what the best way to store a razor between shaves is. I could "slots" like you would see for forks and knives in a kitchen drawer, but sideways instead of front to back, and store the razor closed. Or I could design some sort of peg system that let's the razor hang open to thoroughly dry out maybe, supported by the tang while resting on the point of the blade. I don't know which of these is better for the razor.

If anyone has seen examples of great wood housings for straight razors I'd appreciate any pictures or links you cold send me.

Thanks those photos were very helpful. I've got lots of ideas floating around now. It seems that the majority of people store their razors closed, usually vertical rather than horizontal. Only a few seem to store them open, and usually this is more for display purposes in the shadow box style cabinets.

I tend to store any razor not in regular use in a drier environment than the bathroom. Even with an extractor it can be a little damp from time to time. I suppose it all depends on your house design. May be worth bearing in mind.
