I just noticed last night before I went to bed at 11:00pm, that my shave from 4:00 am (yep that's when I get up), was still just as good as anything I had ever gotten from my M3 when it was fresh as 4:00am.
I kept reading about the longevity of a str8 shave, but really had not experienced that yet. So "Myth Confirmed" :tu

Weird isn't it? The most comfortable shave is also equal to the longest lasting, no myth.

How right you are about your straight razor experience. My 5 o'clock shadow usually knocks on the door around 10 o'clock.

I get my 5 o'clock shadow ~24 hours after the shave
I shaved yesterday at about 3PM (I'm at work by 4AM) and I'm still good to go.
Are you guys missing that morning pot of coffee and smoke, or not smokin'and drinking come evening?

I hate shaving... which is why I love the straight. I get away with shaving just every other day...

I'm getting that... in patches. I'm still working on getting a whole area shaved that well throughout, but I will notice that there will be patches where I did a good enough job that 24 hours later, it's still perfectly smooth.

You know, I find the same thing. I tend to shave at night, because that is when I have the time to take my time with it, and, when I was shaving with the monstrosity that is the Gillette Fusion, I would have ingrown hairs and have to shave the next night.
Now, though, I can shave at night, wake up, still smooth, go throughout the day, be fine, go to bed, starting to get prickly, wake up, go through the day, then shave that night, and only be shaving my 5:00 shadow. It's really nice. Plus, there's no more ingrown hairs! And the shaves are wonderfully relaxing and comfortable. :D

back when I used a M3 I could go 3 maybe 4 days with no prep(heck no soap half the time), now with a str8 I need to shave nearly every day with major prep/work(but its cool).
