The winner...is Pirelli?

Pay close attention newbies. I am certain that Depps version of Sweeney Todd has attracted many of you to "the way of the straight" ;) But Depp has no grasp on proper stropping technique, on the other hand Pirelli ( Sacha Baron Cohen), while not perfect shows a much better grasp of proper stropping and shaving. Cohen also needs a little help but at least his razor is going in the proper direction across the strop. Take notice: Depp strops spine trailing. A big no no...unless you don't mind shredding your beautiful new strop and ruining your edge on your professionally honed razor you just got from Lynn or some other honemeister. Now note Cohens stropping: edge trailing. Done in a confident and quick manner. ( As a newbie slow is okay but try to pickup speed after you get your technique down ) The only real failure I see in Cohens stropping is that it appears that he lifts the spine. An experienced stropper may get away with this but it is a disaster waiting to happen, especially if you are not experienced.

Also, please don't attach your strop to your pants belt loop as Depp does and then proceed to strop, as you will only be asking for trouble.

Also, when the day comes that you shave someone other than yourself, it is generally appreciated if you keep the razor on the skin, not in it... Especially around the neck area...

And razors aren't knives... The edge will break.

And...

Ya'know, just don't watch the movie, it has a lot of fallacies...

It's fun, it's dark, and its highly misleading to the curious among us who wish to learn to shave with a straight as the shaving and stropping scenes are for the most part terribly inaccurate.

My cousin and I were watching the movie the other day and he kept yelling at me for pointing out bad technique. It is a good movie in a strange sort of way.

Yeah, my folks kept shouting at me for pointing out all the mistakes..! My brother was in it as an extra as well, so he kept pausing it and going "look, there I am" and stuff. Lol! :D

Oh, cool! Where does he show up?

He's in the scene where the pie shop has its big re-opening. He's one of the customers at the shop..!

He did say actually that the pies the had to eat were pretty cheap and nasty (and cold, what with the long waits between shots), but they had to sit there and pretend they were really nice...!

I think he quite enjoyed it though, and he got to meet Helena Bonham Carter, so those 4am starts were worthwhile! :)

Cohen did actually a whole a lot better than in the older version. I really do feel for that guy, squirming like in the dentist.
