New to the forum...
I wanted to drop in and say how excited I am to get started in the world of straight razor shaving and to introduce myself to the forum. Today I was lucky enough to visit Art of shaving in Tysons Corner VA and pick up a whole setup to get going (pic included). I live in the Herndon Area, and was wondering if anybody could recommend some one who can do honing. The razor is a TI, but I am not 100% sure it is shave ready and AOS doesn't offer honing. I have read the beginners FAQ and threads. Im alittle nervous on the honing part, nor have I purchased any honing equipment (recommendations welcome). I will keep doing my beginners research. Thanks guys
Luke

Welcome along. That's a great selection of kit to start out with! Very nice. If AOS don't specify that they hone them before sale, they're very unlikely to be shave ready. I'd send it out. It'll make using it far more pleasant & less frustrating!

I am definetly looking to get it honed, just trying to minimize the "downtown" by finding somebody in the northern virginia/DC area. There has to be somebody

Have you looked in member services in the classifieds?
Not sure myself. Maybe someone who knows will chime in.

Have a look at the Member Map and see if anyone is near you. Also there are several members ready to help you out, they will pop up here soon :)
Also I would reccomend checking the Classifieds for a second razor that is already shave ready, that way you have one to use while the other is out getting honed :)

I am hoping somebody close to me pops up...cause I wouldn't mind picking up on the honing techniques.

welcome, alan is somewhere in va, not sure how close to you. he'd be my first choice if he is able to help.

I would be gracious for any help at all. I am in northern VA, probably 20 minutes from Dulles Airport. Pretty close to MD as well.
