I dropped my razor. Chipped and cracked the blade. I honed it and stropped it, but my concern is my own safety. Do I use it, or buy a new blade?http://i843.photobucket.com/albums/z...s/IMG_6044.jpg

I'm afraid it's toast. Sorry for your loss but not worth the scar.
Thanks, guess it gives me an excuse to hit e-bay again, and make nicer scales!
WAIT!! DO NOT TOSS THAT RAZOR!!
Instead, give it to a local antique store and watch them put a price tag of $25 bucks on it before you walk out the door.

Wow Chris, that's a heck of a collection - mine is this broken Koken and grandpa's K&B extra
+1 not worth the scar.
If you are poor and can borrow a Dremel consider
grinding the problem bit back to the heal so it
is duller than a butter knife.

Maximilian is likely correct. Just the heat of hot water
could pop the crack and give you a slice even if you
shaved the last ten days with it without problems.
My solution.... hot glue it into a shadow box with
a poem about butter and fingers... all the kings
men couldn't put 'em back together again.
Thanks all, it's officially retired, I'll toss the blade and I'll keep the scales I made and use them on another.
Its got more left than mine, and mine is a great shaver. Unless you would rather a nice show piece noone else would notice the crack.
Make a carving tool out of it - be a shame to just bin it.
I'll figure out something with it, but I hate the idea of grinding off part of the blade...

Sorry about your loss. I'm always paranoid that my razor is going to hit the sink faucet. I'm sure it's only a matter if time. Good excuse to go shopping though.
Another one bites the dust! I have an awesome Wilkinson sword straight with a crack the same as your razor. It sucks I had to toss it out.
Jrstudioboss,
just wondering, did you drop it in the sink or on a tile floor?
I have a nice thick rug in front of my sink just in cass.
Regards,

Sorry for your loss, but I have to agree with the others. That razor is toast unfortunately.
