As long as the glasses dont get in the way, I see no reason why you couldnt. Having long sideburns might help as you wont get too close to the glasses when you shave then..!
I wear glasses most of the time, but I take them off to shave.
I have to. It can make strecthing your face a bit of a challange at times... I do not shave with my contacts in.
Have a nice day. :)
Yes I do wear glasses while shaving. I also have sideburns. :)
Yep I usualy wear mine for shaving. and have no issues,
I have pretty bad vision, but I have never thought of shaving with my glasses on. Often I shave by feel, especially in areas where the hand I use to stretch my skin comes between my eyes and the mirror.
Seeing this thread, though, I may try shaving while wearing my glasses today.
I where bifocals with large diameter lenses which would get in the way were I to wear them whilst shaving. Fortunately I see well enough to have no issues shaving without them.
I have worn glasses since I was a kid and I can't see diddly without them! I shave without my glasses on, you just get used to it as you learn to handle the razor. Trust me, it isn't as scary as it seems, you really don't need to see much !
I am legally blind without my glasses and would need to have my nose plastered to the mirror in order to shave without them.
I will normally tilt them up on my head so I can get my side burn area but that is about it.
Thanks for the replies gents.
I haven't worn glasses when shaving (with a DE) but i've been known to hit the mirror I get so close and end up with a nick. With a str8 in my hand I'm a bit more concerned that I could do worse damage and it just occured to me that it might be possuble to shave with them on!
I don't wear glasses so have no idea what it's like - but this fellow seems to get by alright while wearing his. By the way, I love this guy. I don't know why, but I do.

I am also short sighted but have no problem without glasses as shortsightness lets you see close up, at least in my case.
Have always worn glasses but take them off to shave and although I'm quite shortsighted it has never posed a problem for me - like you say ,I too strike the mirror with the scales as I move positions but I have never cut myself as a result.
Try it and see how it goes.

Noggs :)
I just started str8 shaving a couple of weeks ago and wore my glasses the first couple of shaves. They kept getting in the way or when I turned my head the correct direction I needed in order to see I wasn't even looking out the lenses. As my vision is horrible without them I was fearful of not wearing my glasses. However, it was so much easier to shave without them. Ocasionally I'll turn the scales down if I need to get closer, but mostly I'm learning by feel.
I've worn glasses since I was a kid as well. I take them off the shave though and I always have. I tried to change that with straight razor shaving, and tried to wear them for the first few outings. The temple bar was in the way for a clean cut on my sideburn length, so I ditched them. Before I went electric I was a blind shower shaver (cartridge razor, no soap or foam, no mirror, in the shower). I'd do the sideburns in five seconds at the sink after getting out. As a result of that horrid shaving ritual I shave mostly by feel.
It's exactly how I type on a keyboard. I don't have to look at the keys, but I'm not a touch typer either. I just kind of need to look....near them....sort of. If I can see that the razor is on my face in the blurry mirror, and can see which quadrant of my face has lather, I'm good to go.
I've tried wearing glasses, but the style of lens is such that I can't always be guaranteed to be looking through the lens so I rarely wear them. Contacts work nicely, or shaving by feel worst case scenario.
i wore glasses my entire life up until lasik 4 years ago.. i used to shave with them on using a cartridge.. it was no big deal..
on a side note.. i've gotten into the habit of wearing sunglasses nearly all the time.. i have yet to shave with them on. but i'll try tomorrow and let you know..
I first started shaving without my glasses when I forgot to take my glasses to the gym, where I most often shave. I am short sighted but have no problem distinguishing between the white of the lather and the pink of my skin. I actually found it helped not being able to see as well, like it made me worry less about being perfect.
On a side note, when I was younger and tried rock climbing it was less scarry and therefore easier, to climb with a blind fold. I feel it is a similar situation with shaving. But of course I would never shave with a blind fold (if some one is willing to try, it would make a great video for utube).
little of both i guess.. i had been wearing glasses since i was old enough to walk into things.. so i felt really odd without something on my face.. i started wearing them so much that my eyes have become super sensitive to light.. i basically can't step outside without my sunglasses.. and i wear them inside my house when a have too many windows open..
i do live in what is probably the most sunny city in california though.
Always!

I just shave with my contacts in :p
I shave with my glasses on, no problem. I just reach under the temples to stretch my skin. I've left sideburns on and shaved them off, it's no biggie since whatever I miss I can easily get by moving the glasses a bit when I do my touch ups.
I'm having PRK done today, so we'll see what it's like to shave without glasses soon enough. Fingers crossed I don't have to learn how to shave blind. :(
so i shaved this morning with my sunglasses on.. everything went smooth till i nicked the business out of my trouble area... the very bottom edge of the left side of my throat... its like a giant cowlick that grows in every which direction.. i could blame this on the sunglasses.. but i would feel more comfortable blaming it on the poor lather i tried from the body shop.
I've worn glasses since I was 10, but never shaved with them on. As an aside, my eyesight is actually getting better with age. My eye doctor said it's either from not using them all the time or from drinking too much coffee. Seriously.
I have contacts but usually wear glasses when I shave. I found that when I stretch my sideburns up I lift the earpiece up at the same time to get it out of the way. Once I get that small section that's all I really have to do to get around the glasses.
BTW, I have progressive lenses, so I can get as close or as far away as I want.
20/300 in my left eye; 20/400 in my right. Could not shave without my glasses on. However, trying to shave with bifocals really s****d. Had to dig out an old pair of single vision glasses from 21 years ago.
Lenses (eye pieces) get in the way when I do my cheeks (toward my nose) but I manage with it.
Namaste,
Morty -_-
Too much coffee? Wow I should be 20/20 as I consume WAY too much coffee.
I think that straight shaving, once you are good at it, would be one of the things that you could do with your eyes closed. Having said that I do not want to be the first to try it - how about some of you who have been using the straight for a lot longer than me any thoughts?
