So, this morning I received my 1st razor and strop from SRD, a Dovo 6/8 tortise shell set. I get it all unpacked and holy hell is that edge sharp. My wife takes a look at the package and smiles, because she knows I've been impatiently counting the days for it to arrive.
After wiping the oil off and stropping the blade, I decide to go all in. I read up on some of the wiki, to keep what I've learned here fresh and then head for the bathroom. Twenty minutes later, I've completed a full shave. I took a bit of time and care and my first straight razor shave was bloodless! :matrix:
Thanks all for the wonderful advice and information here. Without this place, I'd probably still be using a Gillette.
Oh, I almost forgot! The best part was after my shave, SWMBO comes out and checks for damage. She feels the cheeks, the chin. Finally she looks at me and in a tone that brooks no argument says, "You're going to collect these razors, right?" :rofl2:
