Tomorrow's the day: Which razor to start with?

I've been reading a ton of posts, the wiki, and watching videos. Now I've got my kit in hand. :beer2: I bought two shave ready razors from members here. One is a gorgeous restored Dubl Duck #1 Special with a spike point and the other is a very nice Case with a Barber's Notch. I plan to try my first straight shave tomorrow morning. My question is which razor should I try first? I think the spike point looks more dangerous, but I'm determined not to let the razor control me. :mace: Any advice from those in the know?

it probably doesn't matter. try both and see if you like one better and use that one.

I'm far from "in the know" having only 2 1/2 years experience with straights but I will say..... Enjoy it! Sounds like you have quality to choose from.

Just pick whichever of the two razors you find more attractive and have your first shave with that. :beer2:

I vote for whichever you think is the sharpest. That sharpest blade will be a great way to keep razorburn to a minimum. Alas, remember not to expect very much from your first shave.

I would go for the DoubleDuck since so many people have spoken highly about it that it peaked my curiosity. The Chase could be a sleeper though.

Have fun with both and once you achieve a BBS shave, ring the SRP Bell and let everyone know. It may take a while to get there, but it is very rewarding.

IMHO, either is fine. However, if you go with the spike point, you watch that point closely. Especially around your earlobes. I'm serious about that!:)

Just go with the one you like the look of best..! :)

And +1 to Davids advice about watching the spike. They're not dangerous or anything, but its easy to catch yourself with it and get a small nick, so just make sure you know where the end of the razor is.

i would say take the one you thin that looks best.
just take your time and everything should come fine
keep us posted with the results of your first shave
