Dont worry about nicking your first strop, we all do it..! I caned mine, and its got umpteen sanded down nicks and maybe half a dozen glued flaps and its still going strong. I pasted it when I got my new SRD 3" latigo, and it works very well!
I`ve taken a couple of tiny flaps out of my strop too, I`ll get the fine paper out then! :) Cor it`s easily done isn`t it....
What grit sandpaper did you use and what type of dressing? I need to do some repairs this week.Quote:

Couple things here as I have gleaned more experience on the matter.If using sandpaper use the finest possibel and if you use dressing at all use the Dovo tube dressing with the yellow band which is nothing but dressing with no grit in it at all,but..............Somthing new I have discovered.I called SRD and they also recommended using the ultra fine SP and then a little neatsfoot oil just once.Then from then on just rub with the palm of your hand to buff it out But...............Tonight I made a little gem of a discovery right in my own local grocery store.Go to the womens cosmetic section and look for a combination nail file.They usually have multiple facets on them.They usually have a rough,fine and super fine facet plus one or two finishing buffer facets on them.Mine has about 7 facets starting from rough emery board to ultra fine buffing board on it.First if needed clip the flap close with nail clippers and don't dig,just keep the clippers level.Next use the finest of the rough emery part and ever so lightly buff the nick out.Then wet the tip of your finger or use a wet tissue to gently wipe out any grit.Buff the nick with the facet thats normally used to buff the fingernail to a shine.This works really well and what's cool is it's shaped like a file so you can get into tight areas if need be.Also...the dang thing only cost me about 1.85 I think.
