How bad does a cut on your face have to be to leave a scar?
I've nicked myself a few times while learning to str8 shave, and I'm still learning. I know a nick or cut can happen faster than a Chevy, but how bad/deep to leave a lasting scar?

Around 18 months ago I nicked myself on the chin, re-lathered & forgot about it. When the blade caught the nick it dug in well! Didn't seem all that deep, but there were effectively two cuts in the centre. I can still see the scar, but no one else seems to notice.
The good thing about SR cuts (at least the less serious ones) is that they are so clean (incision-like) that they usually close & heal fairly quickly. Although I've never had serious cuts I have poked myself with a spike point at least once, and that was a deep puncture. Took months for that mark to fade.
Ryan's post reminded me of the time I nearly removed my ear with an unusually aggressive French point! Oh to reminisce.
Yesterday for a second I wasn't thinking just for that split second..my thumb grabbed the blade thinking it was the shank area...STUNG like the dicken's! and bled plenty..but I knew my china cut previously was worse
..ill be fine in about 3 more days..2 months ago I gave my self a half finger length cut from the side of my DE blades..the side where you hold the blade!..I thought to myself..REALLY?!...from the side where you hold this dumb blade!...went right under my chin in a curved line..went away in about a week..no more DE for touch ups..electric is safer ;-)

Nothing like the laceration from a precision instrument....I find by the time of my next shave, most have healed...
yep..also depends on the white blood cell count and normal function to quickly clot..hehe

I personally find that I heal quite quickly, but regularly scar; the wounds close by the next shave, but the mark is with me for months. That may just be something about my particular skin.
I gave myself a cut on the cheek/jaw area when I was fairly new in this game. Slightly longer than the full length of the blade. I thought it looked very piratical, however , there was no lasting scar to mar my devilish good looks...:).

I think it depends on your genetics and your age. My wife has always scarred easily. I hardly ever scarred when I was in my 20s & 30s. After 40, even the clean SR slices leave lines that are still there 6 months later. Maybe they'll disappear eventually, but they don't appear to be fading...
