Great day for me. My dad? Not so much...
So this morning as I'm getting ready for work, I can see that I have some extra time so I decide to shave. I dunno what it was about the shave today, but everything started falling into place and I found the purrrrrfect angle for my blade. Best shave I've had since I started straight shaving. I only had enough time for a WTG pass and an XTG pass before work called me in early, but it was still a super smooth shave. Not even one nick!
Then...
As I'm at work, I get a call from my mom who said that my dad decided to try using my old shavette style straight razor. Gulp...
When I started straight shaving, I spent days and hours online reading every beginners guide I could find and watching countless videos of guys shaving on youtube. Before my first shave, I also practiced on a balloon, just to make sure I didn't have a hidden "slice" in my stroke. Even with those disposable blades, I was able to get great shaves.
I've offered to help my dad learn, but good old him, he declines my help and decides that he can just jump straight into it. He then proceeded to slice a nice 1.5-2'' line across his jaw. Luckily, it was so sharp he didn't feel the pain, and he was a bit frightened so he wasn't using a ton of pressure so it wasn't a very deep cut.
Then, the site of the blood though spooked him a bit because he wasn't expecting it and he ended up knocking my shaving bowl onto the floor and he knocked a good sized chunk out of it.
I've offered to help him get back up on that horse when he's ready, but he said that he'll be sticking with electrics for at least a little while longer.
On the plus side, he's not too badly injured and I get to get a new soap dish on my parents dime. Or maybe that scuttle I've had my eye on...
