    I have very sensitive skin, and recently discovered this old shave balm my dad was given and never used. Its Marry Kay Mens Domain... alcohol free. Best balm i've ever used! unfortunately it was discontinued though.
    Thanks for the info 71L, lots of good stuff to know there. I won't worry about getting the base of my bristles soaked nearly as much now.

    i got one vintage brush that smells like a dead cat in the beginning.... (it was boar).When i used to make lather so anout a 10 times the smell was away.
    then i used the brush om my face.... vintage but one of my favorits now.

    All of my brushes smell like roses compared to cutting horn or bone. Makes one appreciate the whiff of a fart...

    I had one brush that, when it was new, was like lathering my face with soapy road kill. I left lather in it for a day then rinsed it out and that cured the problem. That first time though would just about make you blow chunks.

    yeah I know what you mean haha... its BAD. They should come with a warning on, or in the box "this brush may smell! do not use on a full stomach"
