How'd I do?
My first eBay razor. Not trusting enough to go for one that requires a lot of restoration, so I picked up a wade and butcher that looked to be in really good shape. Hope I didn't spend too much:

Btw, take me off the list for the newbie razor drawing if it comes back around :)

Hey that's a real beauty. Price is ok remember lately prices have been higher than a year ago. Good pickup. Enjoy.

Gary,
That's a very nice razor at a great price. From the photo, it the spine looks like it doesn't have any hone wear and the edge looks nice and straight. The scales are nice too. I think you got one helluva good razor there.

Gary,
Though far from an expert, it looks good to me.
And the price seems very good as well.
Congratulations, may it give you 4 score
and 7 years worth of shaves..... :)

Looks like a great razor in great shape. Original box too? Wow. Let us know how it is when it arrives.

Gary,
Nice razor and it does not look like you will have too much cleaning up to do. Wade and Butcher's usually hone up pretty easily as well and are outstanding shavers.
Good Luck.

A razor like this one will be well worth the price when you get that great shave from it. It is a bargin when compared to a new razor that probably won't shave as well as this one.

Well, I got the razor today and I think I did pretty well. The razor is in pristine condition. There's some slight spotting and tarnish on the blade but it's in beautiful condition and extremely sharp (don't have my strops yet from Tony so I haven't tried shaving with it). I'm not sure how to get rid of the spotting so I'll have to read up a bit, I think I can probably just polish it.
Bill, can I send this to you for a final hone and touch up just to make sure it's sound? Maybe have you do a once-over on it and make sure everything's a-ok and in good shape? I'll gladly pay you for your time!
Thanks, all, I'll post closeup pics when I retrieve my digital camera.

You can almost never go wrong with W&B. Looks like a beauty, and in that condition, I'd say you got a good price, too.

Ok, here's a link to my flickr account with a folder full of a few closeup pics of the razor.

There's no marks at all on the spine and no nicks or any sort of damage along the edge. Looks like a few scratches (maybe someone tried to hone it or something?). There's a few black tarnished spots on the tang and blade which I assume can be polished out?

The scratch marks don't look like they are from honing. Honing only affects the edge and the part of the face at spine. These got there another way.
The tarnish can be polished off. You may find that the tarnish can be hiding shallow pitting and once polished off the pitting shows up more prominently. Hard to tell until you polish off the tarnish.
The razor is in excellent condition. I think you will enjoy your shaves with it.
