heyy guys...So my question is how wet should skin be before starting to shave with my razor? I never know if I just damp my skin with little water of if I soak my face with water so its really wet? Also, do you rewet your skin after each pass before applying the lather? thanks guys....
I like to wait for a deep soak of the whisker. Think of the whole shaving experience as quality "you" time. If the whisker has soaked for about 3-4 minutes, preferably with hot water, shaving seems easier.
I wet my face again, and again. Even more frequently than at each pass. Probably 6-8 times per shave.
I'm not sure that you can over hydrate.

How wet your skin should be is really something you will need to play around with to find what is right for you. I typically shave right out of the shower but will dry my face before applying my lather, that was built in a mug, and won't wet it other than what it gets from the lather. If I was going to face lather I would lightly wet my face to build a better lather. If I don't shower first I wash my face and then dry it before lathering also. But thats me I know some people don't dry there face at all when they get out of shower which would leave there face pretty wet and others will do a couple patts with a towel and leave their face damp. So expertiment and find what works best for you.
I personally shave after a shower, so my beard has had a good 5-10 minutes of warm water soaking in. I also wash my face first thing in the shower, sometimes using my badger brush, so that the beard hairs are cleansed of dirt and oil, allowing the water to soak into the hairs quicker and easier.
If you don't do this, then you need an extended lather session. Lather > strop > relather is very popular. You can also do the hot towel soak for a few minutes, then lather for another few minutes.
I use a sea sponge , I'll wipe the lather from my razor with it and when I finish a pass I'll wash it out and wipe my face with it.Less mess than splashing water on my face.
