Straight razor shave.. a difference you can see

Look at the "compare" picture i attached. I couldn't wait any longer so i tried my new Dovo (without it being honed), after using the strop i just made, to shave just my side burns. You can see the dark spots where the stubble is still in the pores or something. But the other side where i shaved with the straight razor, all the hair is completely gone. Pretty cool. I think I'm hooked. I wanted to share this for all the people reading the forum wondering if making the switch to a straight is worth it. answer. Yes.

Yuh-huh - a well-crafted straight gives far more control, and you can adjust the blade angle to give the best result on YOUR face.

I have since realized the vast superiority of the straight over the fixed-blade cartridge in this respect.

When you get BBS that lasts for 8 hours, then you can really brag to your friends!

Could you try reversing the procedure and swapping sides?

I'm a big fan of straight razors but I doubt that pattern is due to hair. You appear to have blotchy skin on one side. If you look below and behind the ear, you will see that the blotches extend beyond the region of normal whisker hair growth.

Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm. The vendor may have a honemeister working with them to give the straight razors they sell a final sharpening before being sold and I would call them and ask them about this.

Welcome Mr. Anderson. Very cool post. What always impresses me, with every shave so far, is how little pressure or no pressure achieves such close shaves.

True, it takes more effort and time to use a straight, but the pay off is huge. I can shave in the morning and go out in the evening without shaving again. Even the next day, it's noticeably smoother than with any other type of razor.

Keep taking baby steps and you'll be there in no time.
