Light Touch Practice
So since I don't have my SR yet, I was practicing my "light touch" with my Mach 3. I was applying as little pressure as possible and trying to let the razor do the work. Apparently, this light touch does not work with a Mach 3... I messed my face up...
Is this normal? Do razors like a Mach 3 require a lot pressure that I have gotten used too?

It would probably serve you better to practice skin streaching rather than a light touch with a Mach 3. Skin streaching is one of the most important parts of shaving and it is often overlooked by people just starting out. A Mach 3 and a conventional straight razor are worlds apart when it comes to technique unfortunately there isn't really an intermediate step between the two.

a mach3 needs pressure.. you should focus on lathering for now.

I'm with detroyt, start skin stretching. It should give you a better shave, and you will start getting used to wrapping one hand around your head.

Yea the razor you used didn't help you any. You could try with a butter knife just to get the idea.
