Thanks to everyone-- got my start!

Just wanted to thank everyone for this forum. Thanks also to Joe Chandler for the razor. After a week of not having the time, I finally put the blade to my face and did.... one cheek. I know that's not much, but these things are sharp! The proraso feels great, along with the brush and hot towels (I'm getting quite a daily routine started--- I've been doing the towels/proraso for about a month with my old razor, enjoying it more and more), along with my homebrewed aftershave.



Thanks again everyone--- now I have to buy a stone (got the strop from the well shaved gentleman, the seconds look like a first to me...)

Sounds like a good way to start actually. Get comfortable, make sure that hand is steady, and work your way into it.

It only gets better from here so be sure to take your time and enjoy each moment of every conquest over those whiskers. They are the enemy and must be meticulously shaved! who knows how long they could grow unchecked. What would they do to the women and children! :eek:

Try this. Do you have the Proraso Pre-Shave Cream? It comes in a small glass jar and can be found at Target. Anyway, apply a generous amount of the Pre-Shave cream...then hit your face with a hot towel! Wow!

About the proraso pre shave--- I've looked at Target, and they have the cream and soap, but I think they have been out of stock of the pre/post shave stuff... will keep looking.

Will probably try a Best Badger from C&E next.

My fellow Texan (yeah, I may be in Utah, but I'm ALWAYS going to be a Texan), the C&E Badger brush is tough to beat. I have several $100+ brushes, but the C&E is ALWAYS in my rotation. It's a winner. Check the C&E website for stores near you!
