French Point
Greetings
So the other day I came across a Wade & Butcher but the point was past the spine. I did some research and I think they call that a French point. I am really drawn to these for some reason but I cannot seem to find any French point razors except for Alex Jacques. Are these type of razors rare?
-
Nope not so rare. People like them so they hold on to them.
-
If you're talking modern made they are unusual but available especially from the custom makers but vintage types while not common also, they are out there.
-
Here is the Theirs Issard silverwing with French point. Great razor IME.

Martin does great work there. Highly recommended. I purchased a French point 6/8 TI just recently from him. Great shave.
-
I like French tips too. I have a Wapienica that is French.

I've got a 6/8 French-pointed Sprock in great ivory scales that my wife gave me--I've got to send it off to get some restoration work done on it. Can't wait to get it into my rotation!

French points look cool and they are efficient IME. That extended point is easy to get into tight spots. Seems that round points are the most often made by the companies so I guess they must be the most popular. New shavers probably buy the round because the look safer and are less intimidating.
BTW, in the USA Classic Shaving sells the TI French point. I didn't link to them because they were showing it as out of stock. Cheaper than the Canadian alternatives too. I bought mine from TI UK because they had them available when they first came out. That is Steve Dempster, the same as "The Perfect Edge". Good guy to do biz with if you're in the British Isles. .... or wherever. Hones a mean edge.

TI also makes a French point in 6/8 with blonde (cow) horn scales. Mine is made from C135 steel, but the ones currently on Martin's site don't specify whether they are from C135 or not. Seems like a more affordable option for a nice razor.
