I may be in deep trouble
I've ordered a couple of shave ready vintage razors from two reputable fellows and a decent entry level strop. I find myself cruising fleabay looking for potential rehab candidates , shopping accessories, eyeballing various stones 'n hones and speculating on approaches to restoration and all sorts of other extraneous nonsense...and I haven't even had my first straight shave outside of a barber shop. Are these symptoms of an uncontrollable obsession? It's not like I need ANOTHER one :gaah:

Time for rehab? Already? Slow down if you can, you might not even like this yet.

YOu need to control it until you really get into shaving and read most of the threads on this site. There are several ways to waste your money on eBay and other sights. Do some research before you go crazy buying anything. YOull be happier in the long run, trust me.

I haven't purchased anything beyond the two razors and strop , and don't plan to until I get well into the practice of straight shaving. I've been reading every thread and tutorial here when I have a bit of spare time. I know that I like a great straight shave , I just don't know if I'll like a self administered straight shave , hahahah! I do like the step back in time of the straights , and I really hope it works out well for me.

Control nothing! Life's too short to be responsible.

addiction
I started STR8 shaving 3 1/2 months ago, I now own a dozen razors (two that I sent to Max for restoration), 3 blades that need scales, 3 brushes with another on the way, hones, 5 different soaps with aftershave to go with. I don't even want to add it up. Sigh.....but I really dig STR8 shaving. I even personalized my lic. plate. Matter of fact someone let me know if it shows up in these posts.
Shave On!:banghead:

RAD is a serious problem. You need to nip this in the bud. Send me all of your extra stuff, and I'll work with you to overcome this terrible affliction. :D

WAIT!!!!
I have been into this for less than 6 months and have probably mispent just under $200. I tried to make my first strop and would have saved money by just buying one. I bought a combination coticule but now think I should have gotten a set of norton water stones. I have one good razor professionally honed and have 10 other blades in various stages of restoration. Five of them are probably complete wastes and the others will require much work and additional funds.
Find a mentor and listen to his advice.
On a lighter note, welcome to SRP. Enjoy yourself.

So far I'm in it for less than $100.00, so I'm in no danger of going broke, LOL. I guess the point of this thread is to illustrate how fascinating I find this art form. I have a love of things of old, and have found that slowing down and doing things the old way is often the more rewarding path. I'm also taken by the beauty of the razors themselves...a simple device refined to near perfection for a specific purpose without, in most cases, alot of fluff and glitter.

You've come to the right "support group" for your problem :rofl2:
