New to SRP from Chicago
I received my first straight razor years ago from an ex-gf, and upon trying it (mind you I didn't know they weren't shave ready out of the box), I soon let it go by the wayside. Until recently.
Here is the razor she got me, all stainless Dovo 41:

and today after visiting what seemed like an endless supply of antique stores here in the city I found this blade that could use a good refurbishing.

it's funny because the box it was in and the store owner said it was a Puma, obviously I didn't know enough about that brand to understand that the razor inside wasn't... I plan on practicing restoration with this piece. So far total cost into it is $20 for the razor. Comments? Suggestions?

Welcome to the forums. Very nice looking razors. The antique one looks good prolly just needs a honing.

Welcome to SRP. You're off to a nice start into the world of straight shaving. I would check the classifieds here to see about getting those razors honed to be shave ready. Be sure to read the WIKI to find answers to alot of you questions. If you have any questions that you can't find answers to, please feel free to ask as the members here are always willing to help a new member. :gl:

They are both very nice razors. Once they are properly honed, they will both be excellent shavers. Regarding restoration, please be aware that the gold leaf will be removed quickly if you use any sort of polish to remove the tarnish. This means that you will need to work around the gold leaf if you want to keep it.

Welcome to SRP!
With a proper honing, you'll have a couple of good razors there.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I plan on keeping the gold on the blade of the Prince Royal intact so I will be extra careful when polishing the rest of it... :beer1:
