Default Just finished my First Shave

I did as Lynn advised and shaved from my sideburn to my jaw line. WTG and got it pretty clean. The razor is a Wadsworth and Son vintage with a good edge. More technique problems than anything else. Taking my time to enjoy it and learn the correct way for me. The soap seems to have broken me out just a bit but I am very happy so far. Thanks to all your great advice from such a knowledgeable community!

    Default me too

just finished my first shave moments before your post. I had a similar experience with the soap feeling like my face got wind burn after. Am hoping it is just the getting used to scraping off more skin then my old mach razor did.

If you were broken out wherever you had the soap, then the soap is the culprit. If it happened only where you shaved, then very likely too much pressure. If you only shaved where you had soap, then I'll keep my mouth shut.

I think it may have been the soap but I'm not sure. The bumps showed up before I touched myself with the razor. But I have used the yesterday with my regular razor. I used a soothing balm that felt good afterwards. I have more practise with not only the shave but the strop. But I am happy with what I did.

I find that there are some soaps that just do not work for some people. There's one in the UK from a chemist called Boots that brought me out in so many spots and made me look so red I was like the elephant man. My brother used it and it was fine with him. If you have sensitive skin like me the cheeper sented soaps tend to bring one out in a dry rash. Maybe you should try some of the soaps and creams for sensitive skin?

Sounds like you both had great first shave however. No cuts, just bumps.
