Videos for beginners
Hi all
I made two videos for my friend Tim who just got his first straight. But anyone knew to straight razor shaving might find them usefull.
YouTube - Your first straight razor - The shave
YouTube - Your first straight razor - Tips and maintanence

Great stuff Thomas!!
Thanks for making and posting them.
I'm sure a lot of people will be even better prepared thanks to these fine videos!
-
Great videos! I found them very useful thanks.

Thomas,
All of your videos rock, and these are no exception. So much fantastic information. These two and AFDavis' stropping video could be put together in a package for new people.
Great work.

Thx for all the nice comments gents, I really appreciate it. And of course I am glad that you value the information.

Great videos Thomas. Giving your friend his first shave ready razor, then the instructional videos was a very nice thing!
-
Thanks, Thomas! And I like the sound effects. :)

Very informative video.......so informative that I ordered my first straight razor today.....

I watched the first Vid, will watch the second. Your point about the antiseptic qualities of alcohol is well-taken. I use - so far - something not typical in the community for my after shave skin treatment, because it just feels wonderful. It is a moisturizer and antiseptic. From Bath and Body works (it was a gift, and now, a standard :))
"Aromatherapy Body Lotion - EUCALYPTIS & SPEARIMENT"
..so good on and tingly....and soothing, too....little dabs on a wet face go far....Eucalyptis I believe is a natural antiseptic?
As for the hot/cold water, I like the hot, but my face seems to like the cold? As if it 'calms the fiery beast' that is my face.
I have a theory, but don't know if it's fact? I imagine it's like when something is 'inflamed' and Doctors say Ice it (Ice fights inflammation kinda thing ?) well, my face feels inflamed? Same thing?
Anyway, not sure, I'm still sticking with Hot, too... (Living in WI, I get enough cold!) :)

Very nice, thanks for the videos, I like the tip about lathering by hand, not everyone can afford a brush and that little trick is pretty cool. Thanks :)
-
Excellent video!! Very informative!
-
Thomas, any news back from your friend you gave the straight to?
-
Thx All!
My friend Got the razor and he appreciate the videos. I have not heard that he has tried to shave yet.
-
Really appreciate these videos, as another beginner desperately adsorbing as much of the SRP collective wisdom as possible, actually seeing the things talked about in practise is extremely useful!
Thanks
