There's a product on the market used when bobbing tails off sheep, dogs, etc. I can't remember what it's called or what it's made of. I decided not to raise sheep if I had to bob the tails. The wool isn't worth the trouble anyway.
I saw the product in use once. The guy clamped the tail and chopped it quickly and then put this stuff on it. After about 2 minutes he released the clamp and the tail was fine. I don't know if they make anything like that for use on humans or not. (This display was the reason I changed my mind about raising sheep for wool :p).
