    Default First "shave" this morning

Following Lynn's advice in the "How-to", I only shaved a couple passes on the dominate side of my face, finishing off with one of the last cartridge razors I have. I can defenitly tell a difference in the two sides... and loving the side done with my Hart.

A fantastic, relaxing way to start the morning...

    Cheers.

I'm giddy as a school girl right now....

I took today off from work, since the 5 month old Boxer my wife and I took in was neutered yesterday. Since both he and the 6 year old black lab were sleeping, I figured I would take a nice hot shower, and have a go at another shave today. The planets must be aligned, or the full moon influences me. The lather was much better, and my Hart was cutting with ease, and being the over zealous type, I figured I'd give everything a go until I felt outside my abilities. Did my whole WTG pass, and a good bit ATG/ XTG. Very happy with the results, not even minding the nick on a pimple on my jawlan directly right of my chin.

I even went ahead and took advantage of the lifetime honing deal from SRD (though the wife may not see the value quite yet), and picked up a Dovo Pearlex 6/8

Now, I'm going to brew up some joe and catch up on the DVR while the dogs sleep. Life is good, my friends.

It was a gift set from Classic Shaving, and square point. I wish it had been a round, as I find my only nicks to be from the tip of the point. I have a Dovo Pearlex from SRD on the way... and may have a Boker before long

Squares have given me trouble as well but after a few shaves you will get the hang of it. Im going to buy a Hart one of these days soon . I have spent way to much money on razors lately...but then again that is something i usually say just before I make another purchase. Lol!
    Good shaving Sir

Starting off w/ a Hart is luxury indeed!

On the squarepoint, you really will get used to it. If you want to give a slight increase in nick insurance, you can run the last 1/16" over the rim of a drinking glass, using only the weight of the blade to collapse that last part of the edge. It won't save you from a ham-handed landing (ask me how I know), but you will feel the point start to burn before it takes a dive.

Way to go. Take your time and move on to more difficult sections of your face as you get used to it. Don't rush it, and learn to use either hand.

Congrats, you have embarked on a fantastic trip that will only improve your well being. I too have only just started using a st8 razor and enjoy the experience I had another shave today WTG and ATG and improving all the time as you will with practice. Regards Ian
