Wow! this is really Great

Three days running now I've gotten a BBS shave everywhere except for a small patch of slight roughness on the end of my chin. It's cleft and used to give me some trouble even with a DE. I'm convinced now that soon I'll get that spot too. I can't get over the level of control and touch the straight gives. Doing touch up or working in a tight spot like shaving sideways whiskers under the chin it's almost like I'm shaving off individual hairs and barely touching the skin. The scything motion which I never really used with a DE comes to me naturally with the straight and produces a close and painless result. No razor burn, barely even a tingle from the alum block.

I never would have believed I'd enjoy this so much!

I've got the same spot only just under the end of the chin, try stretching/pulling the lip up towards the mouth, that might work. I finally figured my hard spot out and you'll get yours also

Nicely done, Tim! I remember my early shaves well. They weren't BBS, but I was similarly impressed w/ the level of control. I had alot of bumpy skin near the mouth, and the cartrige could only mow the tops of the bumps, leaving the styptic to stop the bleeding. I bled less with a str8. Purely by accident, I switched to doing only one pass in the morning, hoping to have some stubble with which to test freshly honed edges in the evening. Two things happened. First, the one pass shave got so good there was still no stubble to test edges with. Second, the skin bumps disappeared. They weren't ingrown hairs, just bumps. They've gone and not returned. If I ever have to use something other than a str8, I'm gonna be grumpy that day. I've only used the backup DE twice since 6/10, even though that's what I learned to shave with as a youth.

I always used three passes with my DE. And I do now with the straight. But I've noticed something similar and I'm starting to think I might eventually only need two. When it's working right for me the straight definitely gives a better result than DE with the same number of passes.

LOL that's funny because normally I'm not at all dextrous or coordinated. For some reason though this seems to be going well for me.

I don't want to give the wrong impression though. I'm amazed at how well this is going after a month - especially since I thought a couple weeks ago that I was not getting it at all. But I can still see the potential for much better shaves as I get a better feel for this. Especially if my stropping skill ever catches up to where my shaving touch seems to be going.
