I think Jimmy is refering to the Depews perfect razor, I love the style of blade and long tail

The blade I was thinking of was the "DePews". The older you get the slower the search engine between the ears ...... here is an old thread showing one of them.

Edit; livingontheedge posted the info while I was typing. That is indeed the one. Finding the name wasn't so tough. Finding one of the razors in good shape, that is a different kettle of fish.

The DOVO 'flowing' model is well under 3" IIRC.

If you're looking that hard you'll probably stumble across Kreiger razors on ebay eventually, they are 2 inches. But don't buy one, they're really just knives shaped like razors, you won't like them. I haven't bought one but general consensus is they are not for shaving. Thought I'd point that out before you find them and buy one.

I bought one the other day. I'm thinking of soaking the scales in neatsfoot oil after a little bit of polishing with wet and dry. I don't intend to remove the scales. I'll keep most but not all of the patina on the blade. :-)

I have a Schulze 'Wiener Schaber' that has a two and a half inch cutting edge. It's very nice for ATG, but also being a narrow blade (4/8) it's difficult to use the heel unless I place my thumb on the pivot rather than the bottom jimps...

Here is the Robeson Shuredge I was talking about. The blade is shorter than I guesstimated. It is just a hair over 2.25 inches.

If you can find one of these it would make a great goat trimmer. Its a great shaver and hold an edge a long time.

If anyone knows anything about this razor I would appreciate it.

There's a 1.5" blade on eBay. Vintage Small Bismark Bone Handle.

Not sure if it has been shortened properly, but check it out for yourself.

Short blade? Limited shaving area?

. . . Have you considered a Dovo Shavette, or any of the other "replaceable-blade" razors
. . . that take a standard double-edge blade?

They might be all you need for the beard-trimming job you're talking about.

I've been using a DE (safety) razor, along with a straight razor, for beard trimming. The edges are pretty clean with a DE.

The old Shick "injector" razors have blades a little shorter than a DE blade, and are very handy in tight places.
