Razor Selection Help
Could someone do me a huge favor and look at the following razors and tell me whether they are "up to snuff"? I would certainly be indebted.

I would really appreciate the help. I bought two razors off ebay and didn't pay much and got what I paid for. I decided after reading this forum that I most likely need help. I already have the styptic pencil and witch hazel ready (LOL) as well as my mug, soap and brush.
Thanks,
Curley

They look fine. Revisors, TI, and Dovo are all good to great razors. I bought my first razor from altima55 and was quite happy with it (still have it).

Curley,
I have bought razor from both sellers. Both honest and reputible. I like the Blue revisor best.
-
Thanks
Thank you both. I was sorta partial to the blue one as well. And the Dovo. I appreciate your input.

All 4 look good. Manyware is a well known seller out of Germany and he sells quality stuff. The 4/8s is a tad on the small side. Not really a problem a 4/8s will shave fine but if your one of those big razor guys just be aware of that.
-
I really don't understand the 4/8 etc. I had assumed it was a size rating but not sure what it means.
-
Yep, that's right - the width of the blade in inches (i.e. 4/8 ths of an inch)
James.
-
Excuse my ignorance but, for someone beginning.....would a wider one be better?
-
5/8ths is the most common width. Anything from 5/8 to 7/8 would be fine to start with; 4/8 is a little small and a bit tricky to hone, while 8/8 is a bit heavy.

the blue one is nice... i like the red handled one that is stamped solingen on the blade the best.
i do not like the yellow one. 4/8 are what alot of people use for doing tight areas, touch ups.. like the others said i would stay with 5/8 or 6/8 as your first. personally i think when u get up to 7/8 or 8/8 the dynamics of the shave change a bit. learn on the 5 or 6/8
