Another New guy saying hello and already asking questions

Hi everyone. Just thought I'd say Hi and see if I could pick your brains a little about a razor I just got. It's a Erik Anton Berg Garanti? I don't know much about it and was wondering if y'all could help me date it or tell me something about it.

When I looked it up in the database I found one that looks like it but doesn't seem to have the finger grip next to the blade like mine. And I also can't tell what the scales are made of but I would say either a Yellow Celluloid or Bakelite. There's a name and the number 25 scratched on the scales. I don't know if that means that it was made in 1925 or if it would have been a 25th birthday gift.

I'd like to restore this and get it useable. I think it'd be pretty cool to shave with it.

Welcome to SRP! You've got a fine razor there that will be a great shaver once its honed properly. Can't help you much with the date though. Congrats and enjoy.

Razors don't normally have any identifiers on them to give you a clue as to year of manufacture. There are some LE editions which are easier but your's is just one of those common pieces. You would need someone who specifically collects them and might know. It could be anywhere from the formation and termination of the manufacturer as clues.

It's fairly clean I'd like to get it honed. I keep hearing about Whipped Dog, and was wondering if he does a good job. I saw that he's out of Texas like me so that's bonus points right there. lol
