So I am starting to understand that it's not just the amount of lather, but also the quality that counts?
I has been using the manufacturers suggerem amount of a tube cream. Ths morning decided to double the amount on a whim. WHOA! Holy gliding, batman!
My shaves have been getting easier and easier, but this was the easiest yet!
The quality of the lather is much more important than the amount, you only need a layer thick enough to cover the whiskers, the better lather, the better shave.
When I use cream from a tube I use about a almond sized doplet.
You can make as much lather as you want, and it is quite entertaining to lather on a thick coat of it. The fact, though, is that any lather that isn't touching skin or whiskers is superfluous and doesn't affect the shave. When I apply lather these days, I literally paint on a thin film of it and use only that. Any lather in addition to this just makes more work removing it and can get a bit sloppy. Maybe that's just the minimalist in me, but it's working fine for me.
Just to echo what has been said, its quality over quantity. If you really have to pour on the lather it's time to find another lather.
Check your water to soap/cream ratio. The lather should be the same sonsistancy whether you make large or small amounts.
