Ouch! Sorry that happened, Swerve.
Umm..its hanging hair test..not hanging finger/nail test..lol
But seriously how did your blade end up there?
i guess you know the blade will give you a good shave....watch out tho it's got some serious blood lust
Yeah it bled for 8 hrs
Well, you've established that the blade cuts skin. Now, how about hair?
I actually did that before! Hahahaha.
Now I shave test only....
Yeah the hair was gone too
I did this many years ago when I got a swiss army knife as a present. I took a hair between my finger and thumb, and in a very dramatic fashion took basically a full-swing to bring it down onto the blade held with my other hand. Needless to say, I miscalculated a bit and loosened a nice-sized chunk of my fingertip. It was hanging by a thread but I "pasted" it back on and it seemed to heal after a fashion. Then about 6 mos later I was working on a car, a wrench slipped and I banged that very spot hard on some metal. And that ill-fated chunk of finger just popped right off! It had pretty much turned into callus by that time and there wasn't as much blood as I'd expected. It was just very weird.
Times have changed. I have more respect for sharp blades nowadays. And if I want to do a HHT these days, I've got to use chest-hair. :roflmao
Yeah when I did this I was holding the hair stationairy ans moving the razor through the hair but now its the other way arround that works much better.
Sooooooo It that a HHT 0 or an HHT 10 ???? How would somebody calculate that ????
j/k of course :p
At least a 7.5
From annother post of mine: Well I must be doing things right because I took one of those vintage straight razor wannabe razors and honed and stropped it. Then I performed the hanging hair test and it did wonderfully, so I go to show my wife and cut the tip of my forefinger off literally, but at least I got it out of the way quickly and now ill be using my brain.
Oy Very!..I wish you a speedy recovery
Im already healed but thanx
Hold the hair between the fingers, not against them. That's the trick of it. And might I interest you in the Cut of the Day thread?
Yes I would lik to go to that thred and I was holding it between my fingers I actually cut through a verry small part of my thumb also.
Forget the HHT.
The ONLY test that count is the shave.
It is real easy. Does the shave feel good and get you smooth? Yes / No.
Oh this particular razor was a piece of shi+. And I had to strp it 6 or more times b4 id finish shaving on a 3 pass shave.
Funny (weird not funny ha ha) how we tend to forget just how sharp these things are now and again, and it's that split second of "la la la dum dee dum dum" it goes to hell in a hand basket lol! Did that with a steak knife once...just kinda set it on the counter while cooking; not paying full attention, when I see the handle tilt over and that slow motion "OH CRAAAAAP!" moment goes through your head; jerked my bare foot back and klang! Bloody thing stood straight up in the linoleum where my foot was. :dropjaw:
Yeah when I was 12 my grandmother did pin her foot to the ground with a steak knife.
YOWSER! I have had more than a fair share of run-ins with sharp objects that didn't go my way; wonder if that's a sign????
Well it happened again. This time the bathroom door that doesnt have a locl was opened into me at the wrong time. Now I have to go to a specialist and im gonna loose this part of my thumb and my finger took 4 stiches. This one is not for the squeamish!Attachment 108137Attachment 108138Attachment 108139
Dovo 5/8 full hollow ground did this. I've ran a screw into that door into the frame since ive neen.home from the hospital
That hurts!!! :tameshigiri: Might be time to put Pinkerton on that door, or move that strop mount point to a more secure location!
Regards,
Howard
Have you considered early retirement? Some people seem to only have bad luck w/straights.
This one was my wifes fsult for bustin through a door with no lock on it. Its screwed shut now but it was my fault the first time.
Oh I think I forgot to post pics of the day after so here they are. Caution not for squeamishAttachment 139857Attachment 139858Attachment 139859Attachment 139860
Ouch, you've had some bad luck cutting up your fingers there!
The worst I ever had was a blunt knife skidding from the lemon into my thumb with quite some force. Nowadays, my kitchen knives are sharp and don't skid, much safer.
Thnx for the pix. Now pls tell us you don't do the HHT anymore? :tameshigiri:
:roflmao
Oh I do but by myself without restrictions. Oh yeah this was from when the other pics were posted I just was scrolling thru my old topics and added thread pics because I forgot to back then
For christs sake get some steel butchers gloves and a lock. Hope it all heals well.
