Four-ish months in... Did a goatee removal! It was awesome!

So... my Dovo Stainless isn't my favorite razor anymore. Larry at Whipped Dog sold me an old beater that shaves AWESOMELY and so, armed with it, I decided that this morning I would try removing my goatee (chin only, left the stache).

IT WORKED GREAT!

Shower, whipped up some überlather with my HIS synthetic... totally bathed the goatee in it and slathered it on my face before I stropped... came back, remoistened, relathered, went in and...

like butter!

WOW! IT was so easy! No, I'm sorry, shaving with a cartridge was NEVER this easy. Now, it's taken me about 4 months to get to this point that I felt comfortable trying this stunt out, but NO MORE trimming first before removing facial hair for me!

Now, I will admit, were this with my Dovo Stainless, it would not have been as smooth, and I don't know why. It was honed at the same time as the beater was by Larry at Whipped Dog, but it seems to snag and pull more. The damn fine shaver beater just went rght through it confortable and smoothly.

How I WISH I'd learned to shave like this earlier in life!

Larry at Whipped dog does provide a mean razor. :rock: I enjoyed mine and passed it down to my son.

When I first clicked on this thread I wasn't sure of this was an intentional or unintentional goatee removal! ;)

That is really cool that you noticed such a difference... I have as well with different razors even with similar grinds. I guess it must have something more to do with steel type. Most razors are so similarly shaped that it seems unlikely it would be the slight differences in design.

I guess that is where the RAD comes in... You just have to try them all?!?!?!

I don't know - really I don't. But I think it does make a huge difference. Heck I find even a little smile makes a difference lol :).

Definitely true... I was thinking about differences from heel to tail when I posted that... But, you are right... I bet even a small smile shape would give you an imlroved scything action for shaving... Maybe so small it would not be easily seen.

Great point! I am going to pull my razors out again and look for that difference... I've been trying to sort into preferences andbhaving a hard time seeing differences but that smile presence might very well be what I need to look for! :)

I think celestino is correct. It's not that the old beater is necessarily superior, but the Dovo likely needs to be dialled in a little more. It should not be snagging and pulling at all.
