First shave with shavette!! (0--O)

Ok so I first began with my safety razor I purchased one week ago ... That one was a breeZe to learn so I wanted to take another step forward...
Went to westcoast shaving and picked up a Parker sr1 got home set up and go time... Cheeks down were no problem I keep a chin strap... However my neck area was a whole different story couldn't figure which way to hold the shavette to come sideways to go against the grain .. Mine is not up down... Despite wanting to go the easy route and safety to the rescue I finished the shave with one nick only which I get usually when shaving with my safety near my atoms apple... But I have a whole lot more burning going on my face than with the safety?? I feel someone successful but obviously need some practice... Any tips fellas ? :-)
