So I was dipping my razor into the plastic bowl to wash off the soap, and it caught the edge of the bowl right smack in the middle of the blade (perpendicular and all).
How can I tell if there is damage to the razor?

I'm assuming you can't see any damage with the naked eye ? If that is the case you could look at it with a microscope or an eye loupe. I like 30 to 40 power myself. Bottom line is shaving with it will tell you whether you've rolled any part of the edge. Might be fine. If not a rehoning, maybe just a touch up will get it back up to speed. All this is speculation . Shave and see if it is performing as well as before the bump.
+1 on the eye loupe. I bought one and couldn't be happier I did. I think everyone who owns a straight should have one of these...

I actually dropped my Dovo when I first got it & rolled part of the edge, but honing it took care of that. I would recommend sending it out to be profesionnaly honed; there are bunch of people on this forum who can help ! :)
Jimmy is right, try a test patch on your cheeks before stropping so you don't mar your strop. If it feels like jagged teeth or it's trying to catch, then there may be a very small chip, or the edge rolled. If you need a loupe to see it; chances are 5-10 passes on your finishing stone or barber's hone and a good stropping will solve the issue. If you have these on hand do it yourself so you can get experience fixing these issues for future reference. If not, then you will have to send it out to get it fixed. Oh, and I would either run the blade under the faucet or wipe w/ TP or a towel; the dunking thing just invites disaster, and there is waaaaay more that can go wrong than right that way.
