So I'm approaching my first shave, but I wonder how you store the soap afterwards. Do you just keep it in the bowl, for it to dry up?

I keep it in the bowl.
Sidenote: OMG It smells good!!! I have the almond one from TI
Never imagined it would smell that well :)
You'd be lucky to get it out of the bowl if it's a soap and bowl combo. Some of those go hand in glove and stay put. Mine lives in its bowl on the side of the bathroom basin, where I have to constantly slap the kids hands away from it, as they keep wanting to stick their noses in.

I keep my soaps in ceramic bowls with lids, L'Occitane is kept in the Aluminium (Aluminum) bowl it came in. I leave the covers off until the soap is dry.
Either in the container it came in or in a large blue glass mug if it is a chunk off a 1 kilo slab. Basically in whatever turns my crank.

I keep mine in a variety of crocks and pewters and wood bowls. By the time I finish shaving it's dry already but of course I live in single digit humidity and everything dries out including me. I keep covers on all my soap otherwise the dog loves to eat the soap.
i keep mine in the shaving mug i got.
they last such a long time.
If they came in a wooden bowl, then in that. If it just came as a puck, then each has its shaving mug (OK...some of them WERE coffee cups). All stacked in a deep drawer in my bathroom. I often let my nose select the one for the next morning. Lovely!
I got hold of some miniature casserole dishes from a cheap shop for $1.50 each and either push or grate the puck into them - then I stick the label on top so I know which is which.
I buy Glad Lockware at the supermarket. They come in various sizes. I use the one cup size, they are about 3.25 in. wide at the top and about 3 in. on the bottom. The screw on lid keeps the soap fresh and they are easy to clean and re-use. Not very expensive either.
Up high so's Big Bubba and the boys don't get any funny ideas when I reach for it. Too low is just askin' fer trouble with a capital D! :p

Well, I bought some stainless containers with a magnet on the back.
Attached steel bars on the inside of my lower cabinet.
