I use Fromm's Strop Dressing, occasionally, sparingly. I've been at this about two years, and it works nicely.
Don't try to use waxes -- they'll change the feel of the strop's surface. Neatsfoot oil (if you can find the liquid variety, rather than something mixed with wax) is probably OK.
I'd ask Lynn (or whoever you buy the strop from), and do what he says.
