After a month of diving into the world of straight razors
I have been shaving for about a month now and am loving every bit of it. My first shave went very well, no nicks and pretty close shave. On my second shave most of my face was BBS, by the third I get a complete BBS shave. Stropping took me a few days to get used to, and I did nick up a strop pretty good. I was able to get it out with sand paper and bought a nicer one that I am just now starting to use as the motion has become natural. I have accumulated 4 razors. I generally use 2 razors for different parts of my face. My chin and mustache I do with a vintage thinner blade maybe 3/8? The rest I do with a 6/8. I find the smaller one easier to maneuver in some of the typical problem areas. Anyone else do this? The first 3 were relatively inexpensive but shave well. I was finally ready to invest a little money for a nice beginner razor and my Dovo Bismark arrived from Vintage Blades today! Shipped fast and is razor sharp, Lynn really does do an excellent job. I have accumulated all I need to begin honing, but it scares me a little so I am going to wait a little longer if I can. This has become a real treat in my life and the actual process of shaving is like a meditation for me. Its nice to slow down and pay a little attention to yourself for a change and when I am going through the ritual it is relaxing. I have really enjoyed reading you guys posts and have learned a whole lot from everyone here, beginners and experts. Thanks guys!!!!
