We all know the name brand razors are good or great. For me its the no-name brand razors that seem to impress or surprise me the most , because i wasnt expecting anything special.

I think the best razor ever created is that vibrating 5-bladed thing that Gillette or schick or whoever make. Seriously, everyone should run out and get that one and stop buying straights. I will carry on bravely with the straight razors on my own, as I am a belligerent curmudgeon. But the rest of you should move across to the vibra-razor.

The "best" razor is the one that gives you a close & comfortable shave & even that is subjective.

Default If someone asked you what was the best razor out there

It's like asking which of my sons is best.

The nice thing about razors is, they don't get jealous if you show one a bit more love than another.

My best answer is that I have many versions of best. Heirlooms are special, but custom hot-rods are nice too in that you can get all the features you want in a single package that might not exist together otherwise. But it still comes down to personal preference

I've been trying to answer that question for vintage razors for awhile now... I have 15 razors that are in my current rotation... W&Bx3, Wostenholmx2, Case, Genco and some others I'm forgetting some known names and a couple surprises and they are all great. The one that surprised me most recently was a Kropp... I was totally intimidated by that razor due to its' size and presence but when I finally shaved with it the blade just flowed flawlessly and I was so impressed I popped it apart, replaced the pins and washers and she's mine forever now. I've yet to buy a Brand New Razor so that is really all I have left to try as a comparison but I'm expecting about the same results as when I try a 'new to me' vintage razor.

So, the short answer I've come up with along with everyone else it sounds like... The 'best' razor is the one in my hand!

For me, it's a vintage C-Mon wedge. There are at least 12 others that I like nearly as well...

    Most any razor really.
If it is properly honed, most new or old razors will provide a great shaving experience.

German, Swedish or English, doesn't matter much, they have made some superb shavers the lot of them.

Personally I tend to reach for a razor a bit on the larger side of things, and with a rather hollow grind.

My question to the question is why ask the question? What is the motivation?
